MYLENE CERAMICS
HANDMADE CERAMICS
01 about

My ceramics are handmade in my home studio in Dubai.
I started attending pottery classes with master potter, Homa Farley in 2014. Quickly, I became addicted and never stopped making pots since!

Soon enough, I created a studio space and started making and firing pottery from the comfort of my home.

I like to create functional tableware and decorative vessels in stoneware and porcelain using the pottery wheel. Occasionally, I work with other clays such as terracotta and black clay, using hand building techniques.
I am constantly exploring and love to be challenged into creating new designs.
A few years ago, I started taking commission work from friends and that gave me the best practice and feedback!
I really enjoy the dialogue with clients about the design, practicability and functionality of the object.

I would say that my work consists of classic yet modern shapes.
I love creating effects such as waves and drips with different glazing techniques, particularly on my taller vases. In my opinion, the glazes that create a movement on the ceramic object are the most impressive ones and give much authenticity and originality to my work. They are simply harder to reproduce.
I find inspiration everywhere: in museum, art galleries, interior decoration magazines and I feel particularly inspired by moods and ambiances.

As I work independently from home, I’m very proud to say that each piece I create is the result of my work alone from start to finish.
This is the reason why I work mainly on small batches.
It’s a more intimate approach where I like to create with the user in mind.
I hope you enjoy my ceramics as much I did making them!
